Staff Sgt. Anthony Baze, food service operations chief, Marine Forces Reserve, presents an American flag to Carey Samuel Smith, nephew of Pfc. James Samuel Smith, at the Marine's burial site in Liberty, Miss., Oct. 17, 2016. Pfc. Smith was killed in action on Nov. 20, 1943 on the small island of Betio in the Tarawa Atoll during World War II. Marines from Marine Forces Reserve honored Smith with a three-round volley and presentation of a folded flag to his next of kin during the burial of his remains.
