ARABIAN SEA (Oct. 15, 2016) Chief Petty Officer Michael Smith relays messages in the central control station aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Roosevelt (DDG 80) during a general quarters drill. Smith serves aboard Roosevelt as a gas turbine systems technician and is responsible for operating, repairing and maintaining gas-turbine engines. Roosevelt, deployed as part of the Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group, is supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
