U.S. Airmen assigned to the 1st Expeditionary Civil Engineering Group eat breakfast before beginning reconstruction of the runway at the Qayyarah West airfield, Iraq, Oct. 8, 2017. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) destroyed the runway using heavy machinery and explosives to prevent Coalition forces from gaining control of the area. A Coalition of regional and international nations have joined together to enable Iraqi forces to counter ISIL, reestablish Iraq’s borders and re-take lost terrain thereby restoring regional stability and security.
