161010-M-PJ210-087 GULF OF ADEN (Oct. 20, 2016) Marines with Alpha Company, 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) stage their assault amphibious vehicle after performing splash training aboard the amphibious dock landing ship USS Whidbey Island (LSD 41), Oct. 20, 2016, in order to improve proficiency moving from ship-to-shore and to maintain readiness. 22nd MEU, deployed with the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, is maintaining regional security in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
