FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – North Carolina Army National Guard Pfc. Joseph Shrodes, ground guides Spc. Phillip Waddell (backhoe driver), of the 881st Engineer Company, as he dumps a load of debris from fallen trees, Oct. 15, 2016, during the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew.
The team, of about 12 soldiers, filled six loads of debris in one day to open up this roadway. Shrodes does this type of work in the civilian sector although he said he doesn’t have the luxury of big equipment like this on his civilian job. (Photo by Army National Guard Sgt.
