The 1st Marine Logistics Group (Forward) color guard retires the colors during a ceremony at Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan, commemorating the 63rd Anniversary of 1st MLG, July 1. The 1st MLG was established in 1941 to provide support and services to service members. Their name has changed over the years, but their tradition and mission stay the same. During the ceremony, the Afghanistan campaign battle streamer was added onto 1st MLG battle colors by the 1st MLG (FWD) commanding general, Brig. Gen. Charles L. Hudson, 51, from Zirconia, N.C., and 1st MLG (FWD) sergeant major, Sgt. Maj. Antonio N. Vizcarrondo Jr., 46, from Boston.
