U.S. Marines from the 1st Marine Logistics Group perform a skit they wrote to provide first-hand examples on how to handle a normal situation that could end up going badly during an interactive presentation to raise awareness about sexual assault at Camp Pendleton, Calif., Oct. 27, 2016. The event featured a special guest presentation by Mike Domitrz, the founder of the Date Safe Project, who spoke to the Marines and Sailors about the importance of consent and respect prior to intimacy. The event reminded non-commissioned officers and petty officers from the 1st MLG about the dangers of fraternization and ways to prevent it. The Date Safe Project is sexual assault awareness organization started in 2003, whose primary goal is to leave a positive impact on issues surrounding sexual assault and healthy intimacy. The Date Safe Project provides materials and advocacy programs for middle schools, high schools, universities, community organizations as well as the United States Military. “Talk first, ask first and respect the answer,” said Domitrz during this event.
