PACIFIC OCEAN, At Sea (November 2, 2016) – Marines with the Maritime Raid Force, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, conduct combat marksmanship and close-quarters tactics training during a “deck shoot” aboard the USS Makin Island (LHD 8), while afloat in the Pacific Ocean, Nov. 2, 2016. As one of the MEU’s maneuver elements, the MRF’s main specialties consist of Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure missions conducted on opposed vessels while at sea, and limited-scale ground raids. The 11th MEU, part of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility in support security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
