161102-N-TH560-115 EAST CHINA SEA (Nov. 2, 2016) Sailors scrub the flight deck of amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) during an aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) countermeasure washdown. AFFF is a mixture of water and highly concentrated detergent used on the flight deck and hangar bay to smother fires. Bonhomme Richard and amphibious ships under Amphibious Squadron 11 are in the final phase of a multi-month patrol in the Indo-Asia Pacific region after disembarking Marines of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit.
