    Marines from the 1st Battalion, 12th Marine Division hit the beach of Bellows Air Force Base, Hawaii, July 11, while aboard a U.S. Navy Landing Air Cushion class hover craft while in support of the Rim of the Pacific Exercise. RIMPAC is a biennial exercise which is intended to increase the tactical proficiency of participating units in a wide array of maritime operations by enhancing military-to-military relations and interoperability. There are 14 nations, 32 ships, five submarines, more than 170 aircraft and 20,000 personnel participating in RIMPAC which is the largesst maritime exercise in the world.
