U.S. Marine Corps Col. Joseph Murray, commanding officer of Marine Corps Base Quantico, holds a golden laurel which will be presented at the awards ceremony to the top female and male finishers of the 41st Marine Corps Marathon (MCM), with Timothy Kilduff, executive director of the 41st MCM at the Wolfgang Puck Catering and Events Center at National Harbor, Md., Oct. 28, 2016. Also known as "The People's Marathon," the 26.2 mile race drew roughly 30,000 participants to promote physical fitness, generate goodwill in the community, and showcase the organizational skills of the Marine Corps.
