Chief Warrant Officer Dean Rayne, a Georgetown, Del., native, conducts preflight checks before conducting the final evaluation flight in the UH-60M Blackhawk helicopter qualification course the evening of Sept. 17 at Simmons Army Airfield. Sixteen pilots, from the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, graduated from the course, Sept. 20, marking the beginning of the Pegasus Brigade’s road to becoming the Army’s combat aviation brigade to most fully integrate the much evolved UH-60M model Blackhawk helicopter. Rayne serves as an instructor pilot with the United States Army Directorate of Evaluations and Standardizations out of Fort Rucker, Ala. With two classes ongoing and several more scheduled, the training at Simmons Army Airfield marks the first time the instructor pilots from Fort Rucker, and a civilian training team from Sciences and Engineering Services Inc. have traveled to conduct training onsite for a combat aviation brigade.
