AT SEA (September 12, 2016) – Marines with Maritime Raid Force, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, practice team shooting drills aboard the USS Somerset (LPD 25) prior to a Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure mission executed off the coast of San Clemente, California, as part of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group and 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Certification Exercise, Sept. 12, 2016. The VBSS mission was done as part of the 11th MEU’s Certification Exercise, the final major exercise in their pre-deployment training period cycle prior to their Western Pacific 16-2 deployment.
