AT SEA (September 12, 2016) – Marines with Maritime Raid Force, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, debark the USS Somerset (LPD 25) and board a rigid-hulled inflatable boat prior to conducting a Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure mission off the coast of San Clemente Island, California, as part of the 11th MEU’s Certification Exercise, Sept. 12, 2016. VBSS, one the MRF’s specialized skill sets, can be harnessed in the event that the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group comes into contact with a non-compliant suspicious vessel during their Western Pacific 16-2 deployment.
