AT SEA (September 12, 2016) – A Marine with Maritime Raid Force, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, searches the engine room of a simulated enemy vessel during a Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure mission executed off the coast of San Clemente Island, California, as part of the 11th MEU’s Certification Exercise, Sept. 12, 2016. VBSS, one of the MRF’s unique capabilities within the MEU, provides the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group and the MEU with the amphibious asset of swiftly boarding a suspicious unidentified vessel, neutralizing potential enemy threats, and recovering enemy intelligence.
