Iowa Army National Guard Chief Warrant Officer 3 Cathy Hill, of Winterset, Iowa, receives her Roll of Retired Officer Personnel certificate from retired Col. Robert King during her retirement ceremony March 4, 2017, at Joint Forces Headquarters in Johnston, Iowa. Hill, a former property accounting technician, was one of just three remaining Soldiers in the Iowa National Guard who originally joined the Women’s Army Corps, a separate branch of service for females created during World War II and disbanded in 1978. Throughout her four decades of service, Hill said she witnessed many changes in the Army as females were fully integrated into the ranks. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Master Sgt. Duff McFadden)
