These artifacts are lava tube habitation site Ti Leaf sandals. If cultural artifacts are deemed not to be at risk for theft, they are left on-site. These Ti (Cordyline terminalus) leaf sandals were removed from site 19490, due to concerns that they might be taken.
On April 20, 2017, PTA invited the island's schoolkids and members of the public to come tour PTA and see the results of its decades-long cultural and environmental efforts. A dozen lanes highlighted these and more, including PTA's leadership with recycling, emergency services, safety, hunting and community partnerships.
