The Pacific Fleet Band performs 'Anchors Aweigh' for the Royal Court of the 54th
annual Merrie Monarch Festival at the end of the Merrie Monarch Festival Parade Saturday April 22. Members of the Pacific Fleet Band were on Hawaii island earlier in the week, working with local school bands, reinforcing STEM education, and providing community outreach. The Navy recognizes that the Merrie Monarch Festival honors the legacy left by King David Kalākaua, who inspired the perpetuation of Hawaiian traditions, native language and arts. King Kalākaua negotiated a treaty with the United States that led to the Navy’s presence at Pearl Harbor. (Photo by Ens. Britney Duesler)
