(KOROR, Republic of Palau) – U.S. Army 1st Lt. Breawna Davis, officer-in-charge of Civic Action Team 84-04, volunteers at the only public swimming pool on Palau by teaching kids how to swim. Davis and her team, based at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, are on a 6-month deployment to the island nation of Palau.
The CAT Palau mission is to provide construction capabilities, apprenticeship training, medical outreach, community relations, as well as disaster relief and humanitarian support to the Republic of Palau in order to further a positive U.S. presence.
It’s a tri-service rotating team of Army, Air Force and Navy Seabees and each is typically comprised of one officer and 12 enlisted personnel with a variety of engineering and medical skills. Teams have been deploying to Palau for more than 45 years and the team’s dedication to the mission is unmatched and reflected in the quality construction and genuine relationships with the community.
