(PELELIU, Republic of Palau) - U.S. Army Maj. Erin Stribal, Physician's Assistant, enjoys the 1-hour boat ride to the small outlying island of Peleliu where the Civic Action Team(CAT) conducts maintenance and upkeep to the World War II monuments on the island.
Stribal provided medical care for the 12-person team and conducted outreach to the community as part of the overall CAT mission. The team is responsible for providing construction capabilities, apprenticeship training, medical outreach, community relations, as well as disaster relief and humanitarian support to the Republic of Palau in order to further a positive U.S. presence.
It’s a tri-service rotating team of Army, Air Force and Navy Seabees and each is typically comprised of one officer and 12 enlisted personnel with a variety of engineering and medical skills. Teams have been deploying to Palau for more than 45 years and continue to serve the community in critical areas of need. The team’s dedication to the mission is unmatched and reflected in the quality construction and genuine relationships with the community. (Photo by Amy Forsythe, Defense Media Activity Guam)
