A KC-135 Stratotanker touches down at Royal Air Force Fairford, United Kingdom, June 1, 2017, during BALTOPS 17. Four KC-135s from the 100th Air Refueling Wing, Royal Air Force Mildenhall, United Kingdom, participated in BALTOPS, an annual multinational, maritime-focused exercise designed to provide high-end training for the 14 participating countries. The exercise, in its 45th iteration, involves 4,000 shipboard personnel, 50 ships and submarines and more than 50 aircraft. It’s designed to enhance flexibility and interoperability, to strengthen combined response capabilities, as well as demonstrate resolve among allied and Partner Nations forces to ensure stability in, and if necessary defend, the Baltic Sea region.
