Sgt. 1st Class William Pace and Sgt. 1st Class Michael Gasser, both with the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, watch over the pistol range during the Small Arms Firing School at Camp Perry, Ohio. The SAFS, which is part of the Civilian Marksmanship Program’s annual National Pistol and Rifle Matches, teaches weapons’ safety and marksmanship to attendees. Gasser, a Houston, Texas native, along with other USAMU Service Pistol Team Soldiers competed in the CMP National Pistol Matches from June 30 to July 2, 2017 after completing their SAFS instruction. Gasser’s team seized the National Trophy Pistol Team title, which USAMU has now won for the past 11 years. Pace, a Phenix City, Alabama resident, joined with fellow Service Rifle teammates later in the month to seize the National Trophy Rifle Team Match title as well.
