170801-N-GG858-070 PACIFIC OCEAN (August 1, 2017) Landing Craft Utility (LCU) 1630, assigned to Assault Craft Unit (ACU) 1, prepares to enter the well deck of San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Anchorage (LPD 23) after participating in a Defense Support to Civil Authorities (DSCA) load exercise. DSCA events are designed to provide DoD assets to civil authorities in response to requests for assistance for domestic emergencies, law enforcement support, and other domestic activities, or from qualifying entities for special events.
