170808-N-SL853-005 GREAT LAKES, Il. (August 08, 2017) Rear Admiral Kyle Cozad, commander, Naval Education and Training Command, receives a Battle Stations 21 brief from Chief Warrant Officer Trevor Davis Aug. 8, at Recruit Training Command. The USS Trayer (BST-21), is a multimillion dollar capstone training facility that uses Hollywood-style special effects to create challenging and realistic training scenarios for recruits. Recruit divisions work through a 12-hour BST-21 experience as a comprehensive test of the skills and teamwork learned during their eight weeks of basic training at RTC. Immediately following the event, the recruits participate in a capping ceremony where they trade their recruit ball caps for their Navy ball cap, signifying them as a United States Sailor. About 30,000-40,000 recruits graduate annually from the Navy's only boot camp. (U.S. Navy photo by Ensign Seth Schaeffer/Released)
