BREMERTON, Washington (Aug. 8, 2017) Sailors assigned to USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) reinstall a flight deck barricade during a fast cruise. Flight deck barricades are used to catch aircraft during emergency landings. For fast cruise, the ship’s crew simulates being underway to train for the ship’s upcoming sea trials. John C. Stennis is conducting a planned incremental availability (PIA) at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility, during which the ship is undergoing scheduled maintenance and upgrades.
