Reserve Officers’ Training Corps cadets, from the University of Illinois at Chicago, present the colors during a Chicago Cubs vs. Pittsburgh Pirates game at Wrigley Field, with nearly 40,000 spectators in attendance, August 28, 2017. Maj. Gen. Joseph Martin, commanding general of the 1st Infantry Division, and Command Sgt. Maj. Joseph Cornelison, command sergeant major of the 1st Infantry Division, were also in attendance at the game to recognize the division’s activation in World War I. Martin and Cornelison visited Chicago to celebrate the centennial anniversary of the division during the reopening of the First Division museum in Cantigny Park in Wheaton, Illinois. They additionally visited various venues in the Chicago-land area to commemorate 100 years of service.
