Maj. Gen. Joseph Martin, left, commanding general of the 1st Infantry Division, meets Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon at the Cubs vs. Pittsburgh Pirates game at Wrigley Field, August 28, 2017. Martin, and Command Sgt. Maj. Joseph Cornelison, command sergeant major of the 1st Infantry Division, were in attendance, with near 40,000 spectators at the game, to recognize the division’s activation dating back to World War I. Martin and Cornelison visited Chicago to celebrate the centennial anniversary of the division during the reopening of the First Division museum in Cantigny Park in Wheaton, Illinois. They additionally visited various venues in the Chicago-land area to commemorate 100 years of service.
