Peter Atkinson, deputy commanding general of Fort Hood, Texas, greets Liz Hughes, Miss Texas Rodeo Princess 2011, during Armed Forces Appreciation Day at the Rocking Rodeo Pavilion at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in Houston, Texas, Tuesday, March 2. Volunteers from the barbecue committee cooked over 650 pounds of sausage and brisket each to serve to the veterans and current service members and their families able to attend the event. In addition to the food provided during the event, two Texans cheerleaders, Ms. Houston, Annie Flores, and Miss Rodeo Texas Princess for 2010 and 2011 were on hand to sign photos for the troops.
