Although it's been 1,381 days since the U.S. FISC Yokosuka Defense Fuel Support Point Hachinohe had its last incident, it's only been one day since its last natural disaster. In the afternoon of March 11, 2011, an 8.9-magnitude earthquake rocked Japan, also triggering a tsunami, which swept through the northeastern coastal city of Hachinohe. Once the waters receded, a layer of mud and petroleum covered much of the fuel facility.
