170924-N-OY799-073 PHILIPPINE SEA (Sept. 24, 2017) – Aviation Electrician's Mate 3rd Class Hunter Davidson, from Pottstown, Pennsylvania, signals an F/A-18E Super Hornet, assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 27, prior to an aerial change-of-command on the flight deck of the Navy's forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), during bilateral training exercises in the Philippine Sea with Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) ship JS Akebono (DD 108). Exercises like this occur routinely throughout the year with U.S. Navy and JMSDF ships, reflecting the close partnership of our forces. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the collective maritime interests of its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
