    Nat Sims, grandson of Adm. William Sims who was the commander of U.S. Naval Forces in Europe during World War I, throws the first pitch during a commemorative Army-Navy baseball game from the 1917 time frame. The game took place at Cardines Field in Newport following a re-dedication ceremony of the field to Army Pvt. Bernardo Cardines, Newport’s first resident to die in World War I. The game ended with Navy winning, 13 to 7.
