Salvadorian army Lt. Col. Oscar Briceno from the CFAC Battalion (Conferencia de la Fuerzas Armadas Centroamericanas) and Brazilian army Maj. Edilson Costa review a map during a JMSEL (Joint Master Scenario List) training May 3. At the end of their training they will be the "white cell operators" sending the events or "small scenarios" to the training audience. Peacekeeping Operations-Americas is an annual, CJCS approved, USSOUTHCOM sponsored, regionally oriented Command Post Exercise involving armed forces, IGOs, NGOs and other non-military partners from Central and South America. PKO-A creates a multinational training venue that incorporates multi-echelon Professional Development Engagements and a CPX to foster alliances, enhance regional relations, reinforce security arrangements, promote interoperability and obtain support for U.S. forces and interests, promote and improve cooperative measures and collective military capabilities; and promote, support and enhance democracy and stability in the Latin American and Caribbean region. U.S. Army South is the Executive Planning Agent for Peacekeeping Operations-Americas scheduled from May 13 and 14.
