William Field, chief of Modeling and Simulations from J86 U.S. Southern Command, trains Brazilian personnel on the use of the simulations computers. Simulations provide a representation of the actual forces in the field without actually having the expense associated with putting those forces in the field. For this exercise, the simulation used is the JMECS-NS - Joint MSEL Exercise Control Station - No Simulation [MSELÊ- Master Scenario Event List]. Peacekeeping Operations-Americas is an annual, CJCS approved, USSOUTHCOM sponsored, regionally oriented Command Post Exercise involving armed forces, IGOs, NGOs and other non-military partners from Central and South America. PKO-A creates a multinational training venue that incorporates multi-echelon Professional Development Engagements and a CPX to foster alliances, enhance regional relations, reinforce security arrangements, promote interoperability and obtain support for U.S. forces and interests, promote and improve cooperative measures and collective military capabilities; and promote, support and enhance democracy and stability in the Latin American and Caribbean region. U.S. Army South is the Executive Planning Agent for Peacekeeping Operations-Americas scheduled from May 13 and 14.
