"Kvido", Border Patrol K9, returns to fit-for-duty status at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas Mar 20, 2017 after a 'first-of-its-kind' surgery to repair the degenerative lumbosacral stenosis performed by Dr. James Giles of the South Texas Veterinary Specialist in San Antonio, Texas. Post-operative rehabilitation by the Department of Defense Military Working Dog Veterinary Service has proceeded very well. Prior to this type of surgery, dogs with his particular condition would have been retired from service. (U.S. Air Force Photo By Andrew C. Patterson)
