180122-N-RD713-024 SASEBO, Japan (Jan. 22, 2018) Sailors assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD6) perform leak tests on Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) bottles for members of the TYCOM Material Inspection Team as part of a Naval Surface Forces-led two-day Readiness for Sea Assessment. The assessment assesses crew proficiency in propulsion, navigation and watches team proficiency, and certifies a ship as deployment ready. Bonhomme Richard, forward-deployed to Sasebo, Japan, is serving forward to provide a rapid-response capability in the event of a regional contingency or natural disaster.
