    USS Dewey departs San Diego for deployment

    180206-N-SF984-0021 PACIFIC OCEAN (Feb. 6, 2018) Sonar Technician 3rd Class Amanda Nguyen of Houston Texas, and Gunner's Mate 2nd Class George May of Fort Jones, California assigned to Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Dewey (DDG 105), man a .50 caliber machine gun as the ship transits the San Diego Bay. Dewey departed Naval Base San Diego on a scheduled deployment to conduct operations in the Indo-Pacific Region. Dewey will also support the Wasp Expeditionary Strike Group deployment in order to advance U.S. Pacific Fleet's Up-Gunned ESG concept and will train with forward-deployed amphibious ships across all mission areas.
