U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Joshua Freed, an expeditionary firefighter with Marine Wing Support Squadron 172 from Kansas City, Mo., shows Royal Thai Navy seaman Jehalee Samaair, firefigher from Yala province, Thailand, how to operate a K-12 powersaw Feb. 20, 2018, during aircraft extraction training at U-Tapao International Airport, Ban Chang district, Rayong province, Thailand. The training was conducted as part of Exercise Cobra Gold 2018. After extraction training, the combined firefighting team conducted a live burn to simulate an aircraft crash. The bilateral training enabled firefighters an in-depth look at how the other service operates. Cobra Gold, held from Feb. 13-23 in its 37th iteration, is designed to advance regional security and ensure effective responses to regional crises by bringing together a robust multinational force in the Kingdom of Thailand to address shared goals and security commitments in the Indo-Pacific region.
