U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Adam Stroebel, an expeditionary firefighter with Marine Wing Support Squadron 172 from Bedford N.H., shows firefighters from the Royal Thai Navy aircraft extraction equipment during training at U-Tapao International Airport, Rayong province, Thailand. The training was conducted as part of Exercise Cobra Gold 2018. After extraction training, the combined firefighting team conducted a live burn to simulate an aircraft crash. The bilateral training enabled firefighters an in-depth look at how the other service operates. Cobra Gold, held from Feb. 13-23 in its 37th iteration, is designed to advance regional security and ensure effective responses to regional crises by bringing together a robust multinational force in the Kingdom of Thailand to address shared goals and security commitments in the Indo-Pacific region.
