MEDITERRANEAN SEA (March 1, 2018) U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Christopher Timothy, executive officer of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) pins on the rank insignia of major on Maj. Walter West, a communications officer with the unit, aboard the amphibious transport dock USS New York (LPD 21) March 1, 2018. The 26th MEU is deployed at sea to conduct maritime security operations, crisis response and theater security cooperation, while also providing a forward expeditionary naval presence in Europe and the Middle East.
