Third Army/U.S. Army Central honored its volunteers today by recognizing them for their contributions. Master Sgt. Mona Venning, representing Third Army/U.S. Army Central G4, received the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal from Col. Mike Simmons, deputy G3, for her outstanding work with area high school students. She taught leadership, communications, problem solving, health issues and financial challenges to high school students in the Atlanta area. In addition, Venning was a mentor to more than 75 students at Frederick Douglas High School in Atlanta. Venning is one of four people recognized at the ceremony hosted by Cathy Whitcomb, wife of Lt. Gen. R. Steven Whitcomb, commander of Third Army/U.S. Army Central. Other honorees are Terry Lein, Rhonda Williams and Constance Holman.
