CAMP FOSTER, OKINAWA, Japan – Takeharu Miyazato gives a mother and her child an emergency preparedness bag and a toy firefighter helmet during the America’s PrepareAthon event April 13 at the commissary aboard Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan. The PrepareAthon was a way for personnel of the American Red Cross, Installation Safety Office, and Installation Emergency Management program to spread awareness about being prepared in the event of an emergency. Volunteers and staff gave community members bags containing information about emergency kits, contact information and emergency instructions. Children received toy firefighter helmets, bracelets and activity books, which teach emergency safety. Miyazato is a fire inspector and battalion chief with Marine Corps Installations Pacific Fire and Emergency Services. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Pfc. Kelcey Seymour)
