CAMP FOSTER, OKINAWA, Japan – Gideon Juko, left, Allen Balabis, center, and Carl Hinson speak to community members during the America’s PrepareAthon event April 13 at the commissary aboard Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan. The PrepareAthon was a way for personnel of the American Red Cross, Installation Safety Office, and Installation Emergency Management program to spread awareness about being prepared in the event of an emergency. Volunteers and staff gave community members bags containing information about emergency kits, contact information and emergency instructions. A list of items to have in an emergency kit can be found at www.redcross.org. Juko is an occupational safety and health specialist with Marine Corps Base Camp Butler and Marine Corps Installations Pacific. Balabis is the regional director of emergency services with the Installation Emergency Management program, MCB Camp Butler.
