Suriname army soldiers display graduation certificates July 30, 2011, after a ceremony at Memre Buku recognizing their completion of the New Horizons Basic Security Course Class 11-02. The soldiers are the second group to participate in this 30-day, U.S. Joint Force effort to improve the security provided by the Surinamese army for New Horizons 2011. The course included instruction on basic security tactics such as vehicle, building, and individual searches. New Horizons is a cooperative humanitarian mission between the Suriname government and the United States Southern Command with the goal of helping to improve the quality of life for the people.
