DAHLGREN, Va. (July 19, 2018) - John Fiore, Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) technical director, second from left, holds a plaque reproduction of the patent certificate he presented to NSWCDD inventors - Frank Wallace, Dr. Kevin Boulais, and Blaise Corbett, left to right. They were among 32 patent holders honored before family, friends and colleagues at the NSWCDD Patent Awards ceremony. The three NSWCDD scientists along with Dr. Simin Feng and Dr. Victor Gehman were recognized for their patented innovation, 'Discrete Phased Electromagnetic Reflector Based on Two-State Elements'. This technology is an efficient means of 'steering' electromagnetic waves such as are used in radar and communications. This invention enables the warfighter to precisely guide electromagnetic beams over a broader range of frequencies than was possible before. (U.S. Navy photo by Ryan DeShazo/Released)
