Lance Cpl. Damion Merrow, a rifleman with Echo Company, Battalion Landing Team, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, references a map during a land navigation course at Jungle Warefare Training Center, Okinawa, Japan, July 31, 2018. Merrow, a native of Scappoose, Oregon, enlisted out of recruiting substation Beavertown. The Marines trained at JWTC to prepare for an upcoming patrol of the Indo-Pacific region as the Ground Combat Element for the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit.
