Sgt. Eric Currier uses a piece of rebar to tamp freshly-poured concrete, Sept. 25. Tamping the concrete helps the concrete mix fill in around the steel-rebar cages and eliminates air pockets to ensure the beam is sturdy. Currier is a combat engineer with Engineer Operations Company, Marine Wing Support Squadron 172, Marine Wing Support Group 17, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force, and has been participating in the Bangladesh Interoperability Program 11, a bilateral engineering civil action project where the Marines and elements of the Bangladesh Armed Forces Division have been expanding the second story of a school.
