180828-N-YJ378-0407 INDIAN OCEAN (August 28, 2018) San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS Anchorage (LPD 23), along with Sri Lankan SAAR 4 class fast attack craft SLNS Suranimila (P 702), and two landing craft air cushions (LCAC) from Assault Craft Unit (ACU) 5, conduct an at-sea exercise while on a while on a regularly scheduled deployment of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). Anchorage and the embarked Marines of the 13th MEU are conducting a theater security cooperation exercise with the Sri Lankan navy and marines. Part of a growing U.S.-Sri Lanka naval partnership, the exercise is also an opportunity for U.S. Seventh Fleet to explore local logistics support services for visiting naval forces operating throughout the Indo-Pacific region.
