Dignitaries and soldiers of the Oregon Army National Guard's 3rd Battalion, 116th Cavalry stand at attention during the posting of colors, in front of families and friends during the unit's demobilization ceremony at Eastern Oregon University in LaGrande, Ore., Oct. 8. Citizen-soldiers of the 3-116 CAV conducted more than 1,800 patrols totaling more than three million miles traveled during their one-year deployment to Iraq. During this time the unit's maintenance group serviced more than 300 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles. During the ceremony, the unit also conducted a change of command, where Lt. Col. Philip Appleton relinquished command to Maj. Jason Lambert.
