Among the many decorations prepared by the Army cooks assigned to the Northwestern Joint Regional Correctional Facility were these comic book themed cakes and fruit displays. Thanksgiving is described by the Food Service Soldiers as "our Super Bowl" because of the preparation that goes into it. It is also the one day all year when prisoners' families can have a meal with them. The NWJRCF's mission is the care, custody, and control of military prisoners. The NWJRCF provides the prisoners with educational and vocational opportunities, and rehabilitative treatment programs so that they may be returned to society as productive citizens.
