190121-N-RI884-0077 PHILIPPINE SEA (Jan. 21, 2019) The dry cargo and ammunition ship USNS Wally Schirra (T-AKE 8) and the amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48) maneuver into position for a replenishment-at-sea (RAS) alongside the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1). Wasp, flagship of Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, with embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, is operating in the Indo-Pacific region to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
